Salmacis belli Doederlein 1902 (juvenile)

Family: Temnopleuridae

Order: Temnopleuroida

Locality: Philippines

Dimensions: 26 mm Ø over spines

I got this specimen as Salmacis rubricincta H. L. Clark 1925, but I think, that it is in fact a juvenile Salmacis belli. The spines are banded greenish/red with greenish bases. Following Mortensen ´s description of a true Salmacis rubricincta the spines should be white with a few narrow rings of bright red.. The denuded test should be pale apple- green and whitish along the pore zones. The only occurence reported from Mortensen is the Saya de Malha Bank in the Indian Ocean, but not the Philippines.
